Although there are thousands of insect species, there are only 5 or six which pose a
major concern for turf. Insects feed on the leaves and roots of grass plants,
causing discoloration in the lawn...which then require extensive renovation.
However, while some lawns can resist the insects' invasion, the lawn can have unsightly
patches in it for a prolonged period of time.
There are two types of insects that can pose problems to
your lawn: surface insects and subsurface insects.
Surface insects live within the grass blades, the thatch and crown area of a plant.
They feed on these parts of the plants. Common surface insects are: sod webworms, chinchbugs and cutworms.
Subsurface insects have larvae that that live below the surface and eat at the root of the plant.
These insects include: White grubs, Billbugs, and Mole crickets. The adult Japanese beetle (larvae white grub)
feed on plants while billbugs feed on leaves of annual bluegrass.
Tarantino's Landscaping will do what's needed to help "get rid" of insects that are "not welcome".
Ticks are arachnids that can cause Babesiosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and other diseases. This summer, prevent tick bites and reduce your risk of tick-borne disease. Tarantino's is here to help!
